Obituary of Robert "Bob" Keith Webb

Obituary Robert K. “Bob” Webb, age 82, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021 at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Colorado. Bob was born to Keith T. and Elizabeth L. (Morton) Webb on September 15, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Fort Madison High School and graduated with the class of 1957. He went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from Iowa Wesleyan College and his master’s degree from Colorado State University. He married Elizabeth Freyenberger on July 7, 1962 at First Baptist Church in Fort Madison, Iowa. In 1963, they moved to Fort Collins. Together they had three children: Kelly, Bob and Kim. His hobbies included photography, camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, and spelunking. Bob’s first Biology teaching job was in Omaha, NE, but most of his professional career was with the Poudre School District in Fort Collins. He taught 2 years at the old Lincoln Junior High, then transferred to Blevins Junior High when it first opened. Bob taught Biology and Science classes, including one he created called Bellwether Science. This class inspired many students as they got to experience scuba diving, flying a small plane, caving and Morse code, among other things. Nicknamed “Biology Bob”, he also took students on numerous field trips to the Denver Zoo and Science Museum, hiking and camping up the Poudre Canyon, caving in Owl Canyon and sleeping in snow caves they had made. He also taught summer classes at Pingree Park and an edible plant class at YCMA of the Rockies. He was a wealth of information! He was elected as teacher of the year for the state of Colorado in 1971. He led trail rides east of Fort Collins with Fum McGraw for several years. Bob also volunteered for Poudre Valley Hospital in the emergency room for 15 years. He was a member of Resurrection Fellowship. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Webb and sister Sandy Huett. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth; his children Bob (Sheri) Webb of Loveland, Kelly (Mike) Murray of Greeley, Kim (Eric) Yutzy of Yoder, KS; his brother Dave (Cindy) Webb of Johnstown, and sister Patty (Gary) Hunter of Ennis, MT and Beverly (Tom) Long of Fortuna, CA; sister in law Mary Sue Webb of Bonita Springs, FL and brother in law Wil Huett of Fort Collins; grandchildren: Dominic Murray, Gabriel Murray, Savannah Murray, Madison (Nick) Singleton, Saylor Webb, Abigail Yutzy and Sara Yutzy; along with many other family and friends.
