Ernest Dupuis

Obituary of Ernest "Ernie" Edgar Dupuis

Obituary Ernie was born in Pawtucket Rhode Island on September 12,1955. After high school he moved to Laramie, Wyoming and then in 1976 to Fort Collins where he lived and worked the rest of his life. He was a fiercely loving father, friend and partner. He had a special place in his heart for 12-Step programs and devoted over 20-years of his life to serving and supporting these fellowships. He was a compassionate, generous and kind friend, and never failed to offer a joke to everyone he met. The jokes were unfailingly bad, but his true purpose was to bring the gift of a smile. Ernie was an avid bicycle builder and rider, sometimes “scratch” golfer (and club-thrower), sourdough bread baker, sometimes guitar player, music lover and woodworker. His skill in drywall and historic preservation has left it’s mark on buildings all over Colorado. The few years he spent working behind the counter at the City Park Nine Golf Course in Fort Collins were a special joy for him. Ernie endured 6 years of treatment for metastatic cancer while living his life to the fullest and rarely sharing the challenges to his health. He passed away peacefully at the home he shared with his partner Suzanne. He is survived by three sisters: Beryl Andrade (FL), Cheri St. Esprit (FL) and Beth Stanfa (MA); and two daughters: Wesley Ann Cooper and Dakota Dupuis. Ernie’s last 10 years were spent loving his partner Suzanne Bassinger; he was embraced as family by Suzanne’s son (Philip Brown), daughter (Caitlin Yeager) and three grandchildren (Rose, Jack and Lilah Yeager). The information for a Celebration of Life to be held in early 2023 will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be sent to: AFG, Inc., 1600 Corporate Landing Parkway, Virginia Beach, VA 23454; contributions must include the notation “deceased was a member of AFG Inc.” Services
