Obituary of Rose Caroline Lopez

Rose Caroline Lopez, 81, of Loveland, died in Fort Collins on April 2, 2023 after an extended illness.  Rose, also known as Carol to her close friends, was born on August 30, 1941 in Fort Collins to Antonio and Emma Alice Lopez.  She attended Fort Collins area schools and attended Cache La Poudre High School, graduating in 1959.   After high school, she attended Barnes Business College which led to a full time position in the Colorado State University Computer Center.  While in the computer center, she made many friends among colleagues and students alike.  Rose made friends easily and always valued these friendships.  After her position was dissolved due to technology, Rose transitioned to the Micro Biology Department and became an Administrative Assistant.  She retired a few years ago after 47 and a half years of dedicated service to the University. 

Rose loved her family and friends and spent the final years of her life in her new home in Loveland.  She was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic faith and often attended services at both Holy Family Church and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Collins. In her younger years, Rose loved to go to dances with family members on the weekends. She was active, fun loving and an excellent Mexican food cook.  Her tamales and green chili were the BEST.  Rose was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Tony, Ted and  John Lopez and sister Barbara Troxel.  Surviving her are her daughters Julie (Shawn) Isaacs of Aurora, Colorado and Denise (Quentin) Sass of Loveland, Colorado, her son Max Lopez also of Loveland, Colorado, her brothers Anthony, Tom and Tim Lopez and sister Jacqueline Padilla,and 2 grandchildren. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 2 PM,, St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Collins.  Visitation will be on Friday morning, April 14  from 9 until noon at Vessey Funeral Service Fort Collins Chapel, and also immediately prior to the funeral at the church.  Rose will be laid to rest in the Lopez family plot at Roselawn Cemetery in a private family service.
