Obituary of Albert Gebhardt

Obituary Albert Jacob Gebhardt, age 90, left us on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, joining his wife of 36 years, Phyllis (Yost) Gebhardt. Al was born in Windsor, Colorado on January 24, 1932, to Katherine and Jacob Gebhardt. He had two brothers – Harland and Walter. Al’s parents were among the many Volga-German immigrants from Russia settling in Windsor during the 1900’s. Al grew up in Windsor, joining the Navy after high school graduation and pitching for the elite Navy fast-pitch softball team called the Sky Raiders while stationed at the San Diego Naval Air Station from 1951 to 1955. Al distinguished himself by pitching a perfect game in the 1953 ISC World Tournament. Al settled in Fort Collins, working for Public Service Company of Colorado for more than 35 years. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and pitching on several local fast-pitch softball teams and was an active member of the local Moose and Elks chapters. Al and Phyllis met in 1975 and married in 1984, spending 40 years together. Together they enjoyed golf and taking road trips to explore new parts of the country and visit family. Al is survived by their blended family of 8 children, including April (Hymen), Judy (Schmidt) Elizabeth (Smith), Pam (Vincent) Christie (Paige) and Sunny (Gebhardt),as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
