Obituary of Claire Manning

Obituary Claire Manning, 95, went to be with her Lord on November 30, 2021. Per her request, there will be no funeral service. A private family gathering at Roselawn Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date for interment of her cremains beside her husband. Claire was born on August 17, 1926, in Fairmont, Minnesota to Charles & Ermadee Neuenschwander. She graduated with honors from Fairmont High School and attended Cottey College for Women in Missouri. On June 18, 1946, Claire married Dale Manning in Fairmont. Their first four years of marriage were spent in Pasadena, CA, where daughter Vicki was born in 1949. They returned to Minnesota, living again in Fairmont and where daughter Kay was born in 1955. Later moving to Sherburn, MN. In 1974, they moved to Fort Collins, CO where Dale had been hired by CSU. Claire worked for the City of Fort Collins in the Engineering Department until her retirement 1991. She always talked about “her crew” at City Hall! While living in Sherburn, they were the host family to an exchange student, Andreas Flueckiger of Switzerland. Andy truly become part of our family. Because of Andy, Mom & Dad ventured to Europe to see Andy and meet his family. Andy is their only child to give my parents grandchildren! After their move to Fort Collins, Dale & Claire befriended many foreign students attending CSU. During retirement, Mom & Dad loved to travel and took their camper trailer all over the US. Claire loved people and regarded each one as a special friend. No birthday or anniversary went by without a card and letter from her! Mom loved to entertain and enjoyed decorating her home to match the holiday or season. Mom loved the Lord and her weekly prayer group was dear to her for many years. Claire is survived by her two daughters, Vicki Krug (husband Bill) and Kay Wood (partner Tom Kleckner), and family friend, Bill Wood, all of Fort Collins. Also surviving Claire are two nephews and a niece in Minnesota. Claire is predeceased by her husband, Dale; her parents, and her only sibling, Edward Neuenschwander. Memorial contributions may be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association or St. Jude's Children Hospital in care of Vessey Funeral Service, 2649 E. Mulberry, A-1, Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
