Obituary of Carmel "Carrie" Fernandez

Obituary Carmel “Carrie” Fernandez passed away peacefully on January 16, 2022, at the age of 94 years and 6 months to the day in Fort Collins, Colorado. Her friends and family would often refer to her as Carrie. Carrie was born on July 16, 1927, to Anita and Sipriano Bejarano in Ione, Colorado (halfway between Platteville and Fort Lupton). When Carrie was younger, she studied to become a hairstylist while residing in Denver. After passing her hairstylist exam, she opened a salon called “Carrie’s Beauty Salon” near Lakewood, Colorado. Her salon was open for over a decade, and she was requested by prominent clientele because she was known to be an exceptional hairstylist. Carrie worked as a caregiver from around 1985 onward after moving to Reno, Nevada. She had an excellent reputation within the medical community as a caregiver. In March of 2002, Carrie moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. Carrie enjoyed visiting with friends and family, sharing stories, and reminiscing over memories. She also liked to cook, and her authentic Mexican food was so delicious that everyone who tried it went back for seconds. She would look her best whenever she would go out while wearing one of her hats from her fashionable hat collection. A hobby of hers was to knit colorful blankets for her friends. Most importantly, Carrie loved Jehovah God and continued to study the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures Bible daily until her passing. She was even able to sing Psalm 100 from memory to her friends. Carrie had a loving personality, and she will be missed by many. Carrie is survived by her younger sister Theresa (Bejarano) Medina of Hemet, California, sons Raymond and Alvin Saks, along with numerous grandchildren, family members, and friends. A memorial for Carrie will be announced at a later date and time.
