Obituary of David Brookes

Obituary David Brookes passed from this life on January 21, 2022 after four years of incurable, inoperable metastatic renal cancer. He was born June 16, 1938 in London, England and raised in Kington, Herefordshire, England. David served eleven years in the Royal Air Force where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. He immigrated to the United States in 1968 with his wife Eunice and young son Alan, becoming a citizen in 1973. He was a professional engineer in the aerospace industries. He moved to Phoenix in 1976 where he headed the computer department for local electrical utility and worked for Avnet, a worldwide computer company. He retired in 1995 as VP of the Drexler Group. David married Janice Anderson February 10, 1996. They moved from Phoenix to Janice’s hometown in Coleridge, Nebraska where he remodeled their 100+ year old home while Janice created an English garden. In 2010 they moved to the Fort Collins area to be near Janice’s daughter Kristy Thiemann and family. David had a small airplane in Phoenix and enjoyed flying his family around in it. He also enjoyed bird watching, photography, science and technology. He was an avid storyteller and had a great sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his son Alan Brookes, sister-in-law Heather Brookes, parents, grandparents, six sisters and their spouses. He is survived by his wife Janice Anderson, Eunice Brookes (Alan’s Mum), Brother William Francis Seymour Brookes “Stealer of Names” (as David called him), Sister Judy Clowes (Ron) of Scotland, Nephew Glenn Brookes (Margaret), Niece Kathryn Griffith (Gareth) and many other nieces, nephews and cousins in England, Wales and Scotland; Brother-in-law Randal Anderson (Shirley) and family of NE Nebraska; step-daughters Sonya Jason (wife Stacy Sabol) of Moss Beach, California, Kristy Thiemann (Jeff), Grandson Josiah Thiemann (Sarah), Granddaughter Christina Clymer, Great Grandchildren: Trinity Sylvester, Willow Hawk, Esther and Luke Thiemann; many nieces and nephews in Nebraska and South Dakota and many, many friends.
