Obituary of Ellen Woodward Eberhard

Obituary Ellen Woodward Eberhard, daughter of the late James Robert Woodward and Ruth Mary Way, was born August 31, 1942 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. She attended George School in Newtown, Pennsylvania and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Science from Colorado State University. Mrs. Eberhard was a devout member of the Baha'i Faith of northern Colorado. She believed in the oneness of mankind, harmony between science and religion, the elimination of all forms of prejudice, equality of men and women, and universal peace. Her spirituality guided her through the difficult times of her life, and she was quite active in helping others use their faith through difficult times in their own lives. A fervent lover of nature, Mrs. Eberhard was an avid hiker, cyclist, and gardener, as well as a nature artist and photographer. She was often in the mountains with any combination of her two sons and her dogs. Fern Lake was one of her favorite destinations. Never very far from a national park, Rocky Mountain National Park was her local favorite, but she made many pilgrimages to Mesa Verde, Yellowstone, and Grand Tetons National Parks. She especially loved Mesa Verde and carried a strong love for Native American culture and heritage throughout her life. Being raised on a farm, Mrs. Eberhard was passionate about animals and animal rights, and cherished the many beloved canine friends she had throughout her life. Most recently she had two golden retriever companions, and was a dog mom to many other four legged companions, dating back decades. Mrs. Eberhard is survived by her sister Ruth E. Krebs of Pennsylvania, her sons Andrew Eberhard and Jacob Eberhard and his wife Elizabeth, all from Denver, Colorado. She would consider the Baha'i Faith an extension of her family as well, as she was a member of the Faith in Northern Colorado for over 30 years. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association OR members of the Baha'i faith may make a contribution to The Baha'i Faith of Northern Colorado. A private funeral service will be held.
