Obituary of Beverly A Dragoo

Obituary BEVERLY A. DRAGOO Beverly A. Dragoo, 87, passed away peacefully with family at her side on June 28th, 2022. Beverly was born on March 17, 1935 in Pueblo, Colorado, to Roland and Leona Knobbs. The daughter of an Army officer, she had an interesting childhood, moving to various stations in the U.S. and overseas. In 1947 her father was stationed at Fort Riley, near Junction City, Kansas, which is where she met the man who would become the love of her life, Cline Dragoo. In high school their friendship blossomed, but things changed when her father was deployed to Japan in 1949, and her family boarded a ship and traveled 12 days across the Pacific to join him. After close to three years in Japan, the family returned to the United States following her father’s departure from military service. Beverly finished high school in Trinidad, Colorado, and waited for Cline to return from Adak, Alaska completing his service in the Air Force. Shortly after he returned to the states, they were reunited and married on July 10, 1953, in Trinidad. They loved one another deeply until Cline passed away on Feb. 5, 2012 of ALS. After attending Washburn University in Kansas, Beverly and Cline moved to Lawrence, Kansas, in 1956 so Cline could attend the University of Kansas’ School of Pharmacy. Their two children were born while at KU and to this day the entire family is a Jayhawk family. Beverly was able to watch the KU basketball team win the NCAA basketball tournament in March of this year. Rock chalk Jayhawks KU! Following graduation, they eventually moved to Topeka, Kansas, where she became a receptionist for a medical practice and got her start in the medical community. In 1967, the family moved to Loveland and shortly afterwards she became a receptionist and office manager with Dr. Robert Conlon’s practice in Fort Collins. Later she worked for the Residency Program at Poudre Valley Hospital where she met Dr. Gary Luckasen, a Resident in the program. She and Dr. Luckasen eventually joined forces to build his cardiology practice in Fort Collins. She had a long career with that practice and retired in 1996. Following retirement, they bought a vacation home in Chandler, AZ, where they enjoyed the warm Arizona climate during the colder months back in Colorado. Beverly loved her grandchildren and was a wonderful Grandma! She taught them how to bake and cook, would go to garage sales, enjoyed trips to Disneyland with them and went to almost every school program, school music concert, soccer game, swim meet, graduation ceremony or other event that the grand kids were in. Beverly was also great-grandson Landyn’s best friend and supporter! Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, Cline H. Dragoo, Jr., her son Cline H. Dragoo III, sisters Betty Mangino, Barbara Barstow, Charlotte Mantelli and brother Morland Knobbs. She is survived by her daughter, Colleen (Doug) Finnman, her daughter-in-law Sonya Dragoo, her granddaughters Alison Finnman, Nicole Finnman and Melissa Dragoo, her grandson Michael Dragoo, great-grandson Landyn Dragoo, brother Warren (RoseAnn) Knobbs, nieces and nephews, and her lifelong best friend, Beverly Montgomery.
