A commercial on the radio here in Palm
Springs lately has triggered me daily to go find Dave. I googled him today and found this. When Dave and I were at CSU in The Fort years ago, lamenting the lack of a decent bagel, we decided to coordinate and ended up
starting a business delivering fresh bagels and schmear to college kids and others city wide. The Bagel Boys was born. Dave picked up authentic bagels from a bakery in Denver and drove them up to The Fort where I had taken orders all week, organized the delivery route, and together we separated them into bags by order and struck out around town by 7am. We were a hit. I have thought I’d him often but somehow, this year, a lot more. I wish. I
just wish. At least I can share an esoteric lovely memory of a guy I once knew. Robby Sherwin

After quite a while, I'm STILL processing this- It's just really hard to accept that Dave is gone. We talked almost daily..best friend...definitely... An incredible loss... More I will add as time passes.. But this for me has come out of this- I like the rest of you wish that I had at least had a chance to say goodbye to Dave..And in his honor, I've been spending time (like our parents told us) to say goodbye now, while we can, to our friends and loved ones...while we have the chance...because...we just never know- I just spent 5 days out of state doing some of that.... It's been a hard habit to break, just being able to pick the phone and call Dave in the late afternoon... I really have to stop myself... OK..look I'll put his picture by the phone....

What an honor to have had Dave as a good friend. His sense of humor and warm hospitality made a harsh world more humane. So many great memories of fun and laughter through the irony and absurdity of the world, music and sounds and love of life. He taught me a gentle lesson of Jewish faith and kindness. May he find the Great Beyond embracing his powerful being with joy and celebration of a life well lived! We are rich in having known him but grief fills our hearts in his absence. Caring thoughts to his friends and family, especially Mary and Julie.

A sad day. Dave mailed regularly at our post office. He was one of our favorites to see and share a good laugh, chat about how we were all doing. Dave brought light and good spirits each time. Never one to miss a good joke, he enjoyed a good laugh. We'll miss you, Dave. Our condolences to Mary, Julie, and the families and friends.

Zeky, I've known you almost my entire life. And I'm a better person because of our friendship. I remember the night at Village Inn, 4 pots of coffee, and one incredible trucking song we wrote....well we thought it to be incredible. All the days of playing spys as James Bond and Illya Kuryakin, Julie as Money Penny...playing war on the big machine at the end of your block, digging a hole behind my home and pretending it to be PT 109, going out to wagon hill and riding down it sometimes not reaching the bottom....Playing music together always the best of times... taking a trip with my dad in the old KW named Brown to pick up lumber and so many more memories I will always have, cherish and hold close to my heart. Thanks for your friendship and very importantly making Sydney and my wedding rings. You also gave me a gift of a Yin Yang necklace I've never taken off since the mid 1980's. You will always be a part of me....Love you!!

David was the Leader of "The BIG HILL Ride" along w/ Bob Isabell when we were kids. I was allowed to go as David was the leader. We rode our bikes to the very top of the neighbor and one by one took turns riding our bikes down the big dirt hill along side of the neighborhood. At 8 or 9 yrs old, this was a major Saturday event I have never forgotten. Rest in Peace!

Another good person is now in heaven. Dave was a childhood friend. I spent many many times make memories with Dave, Bob, Scott, Ken, Mike, Bruce, Dave's sister Julie, Penny, Scott's sister Julie, Patty and Lori to name a few playing outside year round. Dave's mom made us picnic lunch at times which we enjoyed in the Zekman's backyard. As Bob said many good times at wagon hill and in the fields which backed up to Hampton Heights. At the passing of my sisters twin at 3 months old Dave's mom was so supportive of our family. I still remember the cake she brought us and it is that caring that Dave's mom lived brought Dave to be the person he grew up to be. Always thought we would meet again in our old age. Now it will be in heaven. God be with Julie as life's journey continues.
