Obituary of Luella Rae Quiller

Obituary Luella Rae Quiller 1940-2022 Luella Rae Quiller was born in the Del Norte Hospital to Clenton and Alice Landen on Sept. 2nd, 1940. She spent most of her childhood in South Fork, Colorado where her father worked at the Sawmill. She attended school in Del Norte, Co. and Graduated from Sierra Grande HS. In Fort Garland, Co. As you can imagine being an only child her parents spoiled her (just a little). Luella met the love her life “ Fred Quiller” at a Dance at the SLV Ski-Hi Stampede. On April 20th, 1958 they were married. To this union there are four children. Yulevon Quiller, Shawnee Pier, Clent Quiller, Kevin Quiller. She spent the rest of her younger years chasing sporting events with her kids. They were the light of her life, if you were at an event you didn’t have to look far to find her. She was the lady standing in the stands, cheering on her kids. As in a lot of families moving around for a job was somewhat a way of life. This found the family living in Questa, NM. where Freddie worked at the Moly Mine, after which they moved to Los Lunas, NM. to work alongside her husband for the John Sims Family whom was Governor of New Mexico at the time as managers of his horse ranch “ Bosque Farms” in Los Lunas, NM. then moving to the Columbian Ranch at Fort Garland, Co. All the while keeping there kids close to their grandparents Hank and Edna Quiller whom farmed and ranched in Mesita, Co. and Clent and Alice Landen whom managed the Trinchera Ranch and BAR Cattle Company. The family truly lived a fairy tale life on and around these ranches. She would tell you that they were the best years of her life. The later years after the kids were out of the house found Luella following her husband back into the mining industry where they spent time in South Fork, Colorado and then moving to Beatty,Nevada. While in Beatty she went to work at one of the Casino’s and it was a job she thoroughly enjoyed until she and Freddie decided to move to Greeley, Co. to be closer to their kids. After the passing of her husband she lived with her daughter “ Yulavon” and son “ Kevin” until her death. Beyond raising her children she enjoyed watching the Final Four Basketball Tournaments, Horseback Riding, Training and Shows. Dancing, Fishing and Camping Trips and Card Games, especially when it meant the family would all be around the table. And she always loved to cook up a good meal. She always had a soft spot in her heart for the Mondragon Kids which she thought of as her own. And she would want to give a special thank you to her “Cousin “ Kellan Duncan (Kate) of Fort Collins, Co. for taking time the past few years to help her and show her around Northern Colorado. There was never a dull moment around the Quiller household. Preceeding her passing were her parents, Clent and Alice Landen Surviving members of her family are (Daughters) Yulavon Quiller of Pierce, Co. and Shawnee (Jay) Pier of Kersey, Co. (Sons) Clent (Lisa) Quiller of Pagosa Springs and Kevin Quiller of Pierce, co. Grand children Kassie Hubbard, Travis Quiller, Colt Pier, Tad Quiller, Trey Quller, and Zacharie Quiller, and several great grandchildren Services You can still show your support by sending flowers directly to the family, or by planting a memorial tree in the memory of Luella Rae Quiller
