Obituary of Earl Clayton Rice

Obituary Born to Norman and Annie Black Rice June 27, 1928, in Breckenridge, Colorado. He rested September 19, 2022, in Fort Collins. He was married for 46 years to his wife Beth (deceased 1994), had 7 children; Clay (deceased 2004), Roy, Cynthia, Jerome, Suzanne, Jacob and Ann. Grandchildren, Chris, Roy, Emily (deceased 2006) Keith, Derek, Elissa, Ginny, Dani. And 8 great grandchildren. He was a Marine for 2 years, spent time in Greenland with the boilermakers, then worked at Gates Rubber Company for 40+ years. Apart from his service and work travels, Earl made his home in Denver, & Ft. Lupton, CO, Cheyenne, WY, Poplar Bluff, MO, & Loveland, CO. He loved his work; his only regret was retiring too early. He loved and lived golf if he was physically able to play, he played. He would walk a 36-hole round almost every day for nearly 15 years and played regularly into his 80s. It was only when he required a cart did, he stop playing. He and Beth were prominent and dearly loved members in their community in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. After Beth died, he moved to Loveland, Colorado to be closer to his family, using his ready smile and wit to develop a wonderful network of friends at the Chilson Senior Center in Loveland. He was an avid card player loved Pinocle, Bridge, and of course Poker. He even Medaled in the Senior Olympics at Bridge. Really, he would play anything you put in front of him. He loved his Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. He also traveled with Beth, as well as his children, both near and far. He and his active life are dearly missed by his family. We would like to thank his friends for keeping him great company when he was with you. The family will hold a small celebration of life at the graveside in the near future.
