Obituary of Regina Shea

Obituary Regina Shea passed away on Oct. 30, 2022. One of four siblings, she was born on Valentine's Day, 1957, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, of a Croatian mother and a U.S. Diplomat father. After Rio she lived in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Quito, Ecuador, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. She returned to the U.S. in 1969 and attended Belt Junior High in Wheaton, Md. After her father was reassigned to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the early 1970's, she attended and then graduated from the Escola Americana (American School) high school there. She subsequently worked at the Sheraton Hotel, one of her favorite jobs. Returning to the U.S. in the mid-1970's, she eventually joined her sister, Maureen, who was in graduate school at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Her other favorite job was with the forest service out of Fort Collins, Co., in the 1970's. She also bartended for many years at the popular Long Branch Bar in Laporte, Co. and later at the Laporte convenience store, KP's . She and her partner, Steve Rose, moved to Laporte in 1999 and she never left, except to visit New Orleans where her sister lived, Cape Girardeau to visit her partner's family and friends, and she took various trips back to Latin America. The Latin American people and culture deeply influenced her life; she was fluent in Portuguese and could speak Spanish. She was passionate, stubborn, beautiful, fun and funny, and we all loved her so much. She is survived by her devoted partner, Steve Rose and their awesome dog Echo and independent cat Sophia, her Shea Sister, Maureen, her wonderful community of Laportian friends, many other friends and relatives who loved her in Frostburg, Md., the D.C. area, and elsewhere. Regina always thought she lived in one of the most beautiful places in the world in Laporte and was so happy there. She lived life on her own terms and enjoyed it immensely, and eventually she had to give it up. She will be deeply missed and this little earth is sadder without her. A celebration of life will be Sunday, December 11th, from 2-5:00 pm, at the American Legion in LaPorte, Colorado.
