Obituary of Lou Gilchrist

Obituary Mary Louise Gilchrist, Lou to family and friends, left the earth on November 15 th , 2022 to be with The Lord. She passed peacefully surrounded by her three boys. Lou was born Mary Louise Mackinen on January 25 th , 1948 In Kemmerer, WY where she spent her formative years. She married Scot Gilchrist in 1968 and moved to Colorado, where together they raised their four boys in Fort Collins. Scot, Lou and the two youngest boys relocated to Redmond, OR in 1993, where she would stay until 2017. Lou then returned to Colorado to be near her boys, and Grandchildren, who were the world to her. Lou loved her family and friends immensely, and always had time for them. Lou also loved doing crafts, painting, ceramics, making handmade birthday cards for people, baking (especially Christmas cookies), the beach and ocean, trips to the casino to play the slots, the yearly family trips to Lake McConaughy, sitting by the campfire, and watching lightning storms. Lou’s house was always open, at any hour, to anyone who wanted to stop by. Her kitchen table was a place of many conversations over numerous cups of coffee. Her house was also a place where anyone who didn’t have a place to go on Thanksgiving was always welcome. A tradition that her boys continue to this day. Lou always made sure no one went hungry. She was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, Annie and Arnie Mackinen, her brother John Mackinen, her son Michael Gilchrist, and Scot Gilchrist. She is survived by her three boys, Jeff Gilchrist (Kym), Steve Gilchrist (Britney), Les Gilchrist, and her six Grandchildren, Cory, Amanda, Darien, Nolan, Madisen, and Jackson. Her family would like to sincerely thank the staff at MCR for easing her pain and making her comfortable during her final hours with us, and for helping us navigate that day. A celebration of life will be held on January 28, , 2023 at 1:00pm at CB & Potts in Fort Collins. Services
