Obituary of Arleene Shearer

Obituary Arleene Ruth Dow Shearer Born May 15, 1946 She passed December 17th, 2022 surrounded by family. Arleene was born to Arthur Chesterfield Dow and Ruth Mary Elizabeth (Schmidt) Dow in Deadwood South Dakota. Arlene moved to Colorado to live with her sister Marylyn Tysdal following the death of their mother. She attended Cache La Poudre High school in LaPorte, CO and graduated in 1964. She was married to Richard Blaine Barry, and they made their home in the LaPorte area. Arlene took up flying in the late 1970's and pursued a degree in bookkeeping and accounting at the Larimer Vocational Tech school (which is now Front Range Community College.) Arlene was a member of the LaPorte Volunteer Fire department, as the 1st female firefighter in Northern Colorado, and secretary bookkeeper until it was disbanded. Being a firefighter was instilled into her as a young girl as she rescued her 2 small nieces from the house fire where her mother perished. She worked for Front range Steel until she retired due to health reasons. Arlene was married to Calvin R. Shearer in Lake Tahoe, May 25th, 1984, at the movie set of Bonanza and made their home in LaPorte until her death. She loved to play word games, cross word, and word search. She loved her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, she always had candy ready and fun toys at Christmas and Easter. She was survived by her husband Calvin (Cal) R Shearer of LaPorte CO, son Jon Leon Barry of LaPorte Cb, sister Marylyn Kay Tysdal Wylie of Fort Collins CO. granddaughter Amanda (Jacob) Layton of San Antonio, Tx. granddaughter Salina Barry of Fort Collins CO, grandson Dalton Barry of Wellington CO. niece Kelli Jo Stadlman (Allan) of LaPorte CO, niece Kalene Sakurada (Randy) of Fort Collins CO and many great nieces and nephews and one soon to be born great grandchild. She was proceeded in death by her parents Arthur Chesterfield Dow and Ruth Mary Elizabeth (Schmidt) Dow. Mother and Father-in-Law Tony and Margret Shearer, first husband Richard Blaine Barry, nephew Edmund A. Tysdal A Celebration of life is being planned for January 28th, 2023, Fort Collins CO.
