Obituary of Sally Weisser

Obituary Sally Jane Weisser, daughter of Dr. Edward and Bernadean Campbell, passed away peacefully, at the age of 73, on December 18, 2022, in her family’s home, after a ten-month battle with stage IV lung cancer. Sally was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on the 29th of March, 1949, and was third of four siblings. Sally developed her passion for riding hoses while growing up on her family farm. She also developed a deep passion for hiking and backpacking while attending many of her childhood summers at Cheley Colorado Camps in Estas Park. In 1967, Sally moved to Fort Collins, shortly after graduating from Central High School, and attended Colorado State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in 1971. During her time at CSU, Sally met her husband Raymond James Weisser and begun their family in 1982 with the birth of their first child, Kimberly Rhannon Weisser and their second child in 1984, Stacey Nicole Weisser. Throughout the years, Sally became a prominent member of the Fort Collins community. Her passion for the public school system led her to serve on the Poudre School District school board for four years, two of which she was President. Sally continued her education at CSU where she completed her Master of Business Administration, followed by a long and lucrative career in management and accounting. Sally’s love for helping and serving the youth in her community guided her to become an active member in the Larimer County 4H clubs, where she encouraged children to see their value and potential to improve their community and world around them. Sally spent many years at countless swim meets with her oldest daughter Kimberly and traveling the country with her youngest, Stacey, showing horses. Sally loved all things outdoor, including her impressive garden that she tended to year in and year out. Sally’s love for digging in the dirt later led her to complete her Master Gardening through Colorado State University, and to begin her own landscaping business where she got to share this passion with others. She fought every day since her diagnosis in February of 2022. Her doctor, Miho Scott of the UC Health Cancer Center, was vital in facilitating Sally’s cancer journey, and for that we thank her. Sally found her pride and joy in the birth of her only Grandchild, Zoey Campbell Nicol, and was determined to run and play with her for as long as she was able to. Sally’s unconditional love and faithfulness to all her family and friends was her greatest attribute in life. Her strength and wisdom will be remembered and dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her. Sally is survived by many loved ones and friends, including: Daughter, Kim Weisser of Fort Collins, Co; daughter, Stacey Weisser (David Nicol) of Wellington and granddaughter Zoey Campbell Nicol.
